  1. Hi Sue, Do you know if these officers were staff or patients?

Many thanks for all the posts. They are fascinating.

  2. Hallo Joana

This is Colonel Bruce-Porter and his medical staff - it doesn't actually say so on the photo, but some comment in the editorial text confirms it. There's also one of the whole hospital RAMC staff which I'll put on later. Though not much help to you if you're looking for a patient!

  3. Thanks Sue,

Yes I was looking for a patient, but now I can stop imagining a likeness where there is none!

In any case it's good to see these people.

  4. I presume the two men either side of the colonel - both South African War veterans by the looks of things - are orderlies. They both appear to have skill at arms badges above their red cross badges but I'm afraid I don't know what they are.

  5. Paul - yes, I'd noticed those. I would have thought that the more important people would be nearer the centre, but they do have the look of NCOs (if you know what I mean) especially the one on his left. The magazine quality of the images doesn't help with scanning at high resoloution, but I might put a query on the GWF to see if anyone has any ideas.
